In high school, any subject that involved a lot of reading and writing were always my least favorite. I didn't like writing because I believed that my grade always depended on what the teacher felt and not my level of creativity. Today, I love reading books on investing and writing poems and books that help people. God works in mysterious ways.
Below are some books that you must read. Check them out from your local library or purchase them here. You must first change the way you think before you can change your surroundings.

Rich Dad Poor Dad
This book will really change the way that you think. Robert Kiyosaki states that people grow wealth from one or more of the four classes, the cash flow quadrant. I recommended this book to four of my closest friends. It had an astounding effect on each. One left his high paying salaried position with Exxon to become a full time entrepreneur and real estate investor. Another sold his brand new truck and purchased a smaller fuel efficient car. He used the savings to purchase 4 income properties. The third opened a dollar store and purchased income properties as well. Last but not least, the last joined a successful network marketing firm and has been doing well.
Rich Dad's Guide to Investing
This is the third book of the series. It is a good book. It will not show you how to make a million dollars but it will plant thoughts into your head.
Cash Flow Quadrant
This is the second book in the Rich Dad series. It is a good book. It further explains the quadrants outlined in Rich Dad Poor Dad. It is a great read.
Investing For Dummies
Whether you choose to invest using a brokerage, mutual fund or on your own, you need to know something about investing. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more. Eric does a great job of breaking down investing into the most simplest terms. Learning to invest is a process and this is the first book. I have lent this book to many of my friends to get them started. If these last few years have not shown you anything, then I am afraid nothing will. Who cares more about your hard-earned money?
Purpose Driven Life
This is a wonderful book. Rick Warren makes you look at your life from a biblical point of view. He breaks it into 40 days of purpose. By the time you complete the book, you will have a pretty good idea of your God-given purpose.
Winning in the Futures Market
If you have the desire to invest in commodities like meats, grains, metals, and many more, then this book is a must. Investing in commodites involves a great amount risk but it also has a greater potential for reward. When I mention commodities trading to people, they tell me about some guy that lost his house trading pork bellies. I haven't met this guy and I have been trading commodities for more than five years. Two years ago, I introduced eleven of my friends to commodities trading. This was the year after I turned a $12,000 investment into a $38,000 profit. Now, one of my friends invest in commodities full time. I do not advise that you start investing in commodities after reading this book. This is only the start of your education.
The Art of War
This book is a must for business people. It is all about strategy. I read it a long time ago. I plan to re-read it soon.
Why Should White Guys Have All The Fun
This book is a must read for anyone that believes that being poor means that you must stay poor your entire life. Against all odds, Reginald Lewis cleverly created a billion dollar empire. Another thing that I love about this book is its discussion of mergers and acquisitions. I love this book.
WSJ's Lifetime Guide to Money
I must admit that I have not read this book from cover to cover. However, it is a great reference tool. It is a must for your financial library.
The Millionaire Next Door
This is an interesting book. In this book, Thomas Stanley studies common people that have become millionaires over the years. The funny thing is that you would not know them because they don't live in mansions or have limo drivers.
